Safeway Towing was started in 1984, by Glenn Pantore,
with one truck.
He then worked his way up over the years to create the busy enterprise now joined by his two sons Glenn Jr. and Bobby. Located in New Rochelle, New York, 20 minutes north of Manhattan, Safeway services all local residents in need of any type of auto assistance. They work with the New Rochelle and Westchester County Police Departments, providing both with tows, impounds, and boots (impound devices).
Since Safeway operates heavy and light duty recovery trucks, they are ready to handle anything from motorcycles to tractor trailers. Great pride is taken in the vehicles’ appearance, cleanliness, and overall performance. The pristine condition of Safeway’s prize winning vehicles guarantees that the customer’s vehiclesbwill be treated with the same respect that is given to the company vehicles. The fleet totals 16 trucks and the staff consists of 24 skilled and professional employees dedicated to Safeway. Shown here is their 1989 Peterbilt 375 with full customized hood to fit air cleaners, 300 HP CAT engine with 10-speed transmission on a long wheel base. This truck was First Place winner two times for best single axle wrecker at the U.S. Diesel Trucking Nationals, in 2001 and 2006.
In the fleet shot below Safeway spotlights these four trucks from their fleet: the 1984 F-800 3208 diesel named “Big Red” with full custom paint job and 10-speed Road Ranger transmission; a 2007 International flatbed with Century SP series side puller, custom drop visor, and custom lighting and stainless steel all around; a 2008 International flatbed with custom drop visor, 22.5” aluminum wheels, custom lighting and stainless steel all around; and a 2006 Ford F-450 4WD with custom interior, custom lighting and stainless steel.
